Bus information via Twitter

The Passenger Transport Unit are now providing live bus information through the ‘micro-blogging’ service Twitter (the first county council service to make use of the platform) enabling them to send out live service disruption and update information direct to bus users.

Service disruption information is already accessible on the Intalink website, via the service disruptions page, however there is a reliance on users spending time to go to the page and view the information for themselves.

The introduction of Twitter as a platform to send the information out will significantly improve the communication of service disruptions with the public and Twitter also gives the user the opportunity to receive the updates directly to their mobile phone.

Twitter is just one of many new electronic services currently being used by the Passenger Transport Unit which include Google Ads, the Webclick button and more recently the NextBuses mobile phone service.
