This year County Councillors have been given up to £10,000 to be spent in their divisions or as grants to local organisations. There is of course some red tape to go through but if you do want to apply for a grant please contact the County Council at www.hertsdirect.org/localitybudget
Cunningham Library building
The Cunningham library building will re-open again for community goups to use. The County Council has agreed to re-use the building and will trnsfer some of the Butterwick day centre functions. There will need to be a great deal of refurbishment and alterations. Community groups will also be encouraged to make use of the facility. Computer friendly will be using the building as will ADEPTA an adult learning organisation. Local groups wanting to make use of the building should contact Mr Richard Shwe at the District Council, richard.shwe@stalbans.gov.uk
Drakes Drive
Drakes Drive has finally re-opened after major repairs due to subsidence. The collapse of the road was due to an ancient river bed causing a drain to break and undermine the road.
Herts Highways acted quickly and kept residents affected informed. There were however some issues with the diversion signs and much confusion was caused.
